Lecturer, School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning

Jen Kitson is an urban cultural geographer with research interests in the sensuality and materiality of urban environs. She employs aesthetic modes of apprehension—sensing, feeling, affect—and techniques of art in amplifying forms of social life. Jen’s dissertation research revealed historic place making as nostalgic enchantments, accentuating practices and sensual attunements to materials, objects, and homes. Jen traces ecological and ethical implications of sensing in her work in sensual and hospitable urbanism. Jen and Kevin are co-conspirators in the ongoing thermal city project.
